............... ................Premium Brands...Why One Over Another? What's Your Brand/Model#? What's Good...What's Disappointing? Why Did You Buy It? Would You Have Bought It If This Thread Had Provided The Good ~Bad ~Ugly Truth? This is intended to be an evolving resource for basic printing of "parts", functional components and scale features. With these "cheap" printing tools available you can not "afford" to continue to ignore the multiple methods of printing...resin and filament (multiple density and strengths). As the expense of this hobby rises and your available time to make/fabricate... its essential you include 3D printing as a baseline component of your hobby/obsession.
Manufacturer/Model# Opinions....Please In otherwords why you bought brand "X" model "Y". What regret do you have compared to another manufacturer / Model#. Basically there are no regrets as $ usually equates to upscale of benefits and features. This thread is intended to provide a resource of personal hands on experience with multiple manufacture's technology, customer support, and durability for "X" $. In all cases a reader MUST take into account "operator error". This thread begins with the least expensive hardware... Filament Printing. It will evolve to Resin Printing. Please wait to post anything about Resin until I introduce that portion of the thread.

Size matters is not always what its "cut out" to be... This technology "requires" your personal hands-on involvement beyond turning on a computer, the printer, loading filament, and selecting item to print. Did you understand that before you reached for your favorite CC? Probably not...though you read the feedback of others thinking what they discussed would fall into line as one of the "quirks" of a given manufacturer's brand, model #... (WRONG). 3D Printing, regardless the method, requires you keep a material performance log. What are the technical elements (settings) "required" to successfully print what was acceptable for the item's intended use/task? Its simple... When you post images and replies in this thread you "must" tell your readers the filament type/brand, color, dim, head temperature, offset, speed, bed height, and anything which explicitly led to you successfully creating the desired part.

After I returned to WattFlyer...now (2). I have noticed a lack of apparent "buy-in" from either subscribers or visitors. Bunch of reading going on here but little to no contributions to dialog. Any particular issues making subscribers feel less than enthusiastic to embrace a subject or this site in general? We should see a LOT MORE threads... Is everyone else flying foamies these days?
What do you think?

I think the crazy amount of YouTube videos on almost every subject and detail you can think of has had a big impact on all forums.
I have a classic Goldwing motorcycle, I am a member of a few forums on the 1200-size Hondas. I have seen a very active forum almost die out completely
I loved the activity on Wattflyer and considered I had friends worldwide. I was astonished that many of them did not follow us here.
I am an active builder and have built several planes from plans only.
I was a woodworker all my life. I think I have more tools than Home Depot so I can cut and build about anything
I bought a Sculpfun S9 5 watt laser cutter to cut things like wing ribs or other fancy stuff. It has worked fine. Sure I can buy much more powerful lasers, but I am retired and have not won the Lottery so I could afford a bigger one. I have friends with 3D printers but I have not found a desire to have one.
