For last couple of months its been a fight with stupid commissions and just to add to the 'fun' incidents with my Range Rover ....
I have 3.5 acres / 14500sq.m of land as garden ..... with so many old trees .... many with cracks / old branches. Here in Latvia - you need to have Commission make inspection to assess what you can do with them.
Oh Dear - what a bunch of idiots !! They attended and I tried to show the cracks etc. - but they were more intent on diameter of trunks - saying protected ! I could not get through to them - the danger potential of the old trees and need to reduce the stress ... I wanted to 'crown' the trees - not cut down.
I received the official permission to do limited trimming ... far short of required. Even the Certified Arborist I employed said it was far short of required. He did what he could.
OK - during all this ... my Range Rover L322 4.4ltr TDV8 - at 1.00 am one morning driving home ... came out of fog into a line of wild Boar across the road .... BHAM ... destroyed front lower bumper - cameras etc. Unfortunately this happened before I could fully Comprehensive Insure the vehicle - having only just had the vehicle cosmetically spruced up ...
Vehicle was still ok to drive .... while I waited for supply of replacement parts ....
The story now takes a sorry turn ....
I've just returned from my new yacht in the RR ... with pal in the car ... we are sitting talking parked next to one of the trees I had pointed out to Commission ..... BHAM ! Large branch came down - hit front screen ... dented bonnet (hood to our USA cousins) .....
Now this is not end ..... Wife and I come back from shops in my other car ... Volvo XC70 .... just entering house and we hear a noise ... then a resounding crash ... we look and the OTHER tree that I had pointed out to Commission has decided to lose half its trunk and branches ... missing house by just a few feet and our LPG tank ....
Right - I've had enough .... I Whatsapp'd my friend in the local Authority ... the Mayor.
He calls me in to explain and show ... he immediately gets onto relevant people ... also passes me direct mobile numbers of bosses of Govt Dept's involved ... He is not happy with this ...
I have now have State Parks Commision ... State Wood Commission - both have visited to inspect ... both have indicated agreement with my argument. They also found 3 trees that are in need of securing due to dangerous condition - missed by original Commission.
But can you believe that that original Commission then sent me a document that shows they are playing hard ball !! It literally complains that I have used Mayors Office to push the situation ...
Lets put it this way - They have picked the wrong person to pick a fight with .... I am not one to lay down and take sh*t from such people ..... I will go to Court if necessary ... I have sufficient finances ... Mayor etc. on my side ....
Trouble is so many still remember Soviet days here - where people just buckled to authorities ..... THAT AINT ME !!
Range Rover ... 0ver $1000 ...
Now RR is back to A1 ... but whether I can get anyone to accept liability ??
Once driven - nothing else comes close !! I've driven Bentleys .... NICE ... but this ticks all boxes ...
