Well I looked for good info on EDF planes on WF to move over but most of the links did not work anymore, just too old.
I have 6 EDF planes ranging from a twin fan F14 with swing wings down to an insane little F-16 that weighs about 20oz ready to fly with 485+ watts of power. I just give that one a gentle toss and it is gone.
The others are recent builds or gifts that I have not had time to maiden. I even have a 4' long XB-70, 1 fan, 6 outlets. Original fan exploded sending little plastic blades every where. A couple almost through the fuse. It now has an aluminum fan.
Our club The Puget Sound Silent Flyers, PSSF, laid down a geotextile runway a couple of years a go, now my F-14 with its tiny front wheels will be able to take off. Little scared of this one because of the swing wings, I need much more stick time before I want to try it. If it goes in hard, that will be the end of it, there would be foam parts in a 25' radius.
EDFs are fun to fly, big enormous loops and other maneuvers. But you need your mind to be flying faster than the plane.
Lets hear about your EDFs

I haven't had many hours of messing with RC in the past couple of years although I started in '93 with electric. My late wife came down with cancer and there just wasn't enough space in my mind at the time but I'm getting the bug again. Last week I went to an RC garage sale and picked up a couple of EDF's alomost ready to go at prices I didn't even haggle over! I'm not quite positive what they are but I think the fiberglass 36" WS F-18 is an older model sold by Hobby King and the foamy 2 seater 28" WS F-16 I have no idea. Both planes cane with servos and retractable landing gear installed. The Hornet has a Changesun fan installed. The Falcon has no fan but looks to be sized for a 70mm EDF. I also picked up a plane I've been looking for years for, a Great Planes Gee Bee Racer! My 1st EDF was a home brew using a now out dated Kress RK-709 spun with an Astroflight Cobalt .05 Ducted Fan pushed by an 8-1700SCRC Nicd battery pack. www.laser917.us/Fan_Plane.html

It is really hard to figure out who made some of these planes. I try to compare wingspans and pictures and sometimes I get it. But I bought a 21"WS F-16 at a swap meet and I have no idea who made it. No one has a 21" plane and the crazy thing has an EDF that puts out 485 watts on 3 cells. The entire plane with battery weighs about 20oz. People that know fast planes figure it goes well over 100
I have a several other EDFs --- XB-70 with 1 70mm fan, Cobra Jet -1 70mm fan, a Taft hobby Viper Jet 1- 90mm fan (I guess Horizon Hobby has the same plane with their name on it) An F-14 with 2 64mm fans. A T-45 1-70mm.
The F-16 has flown several times but the others have not. My life got in the way of my hobby also.
In 1985 my mom had terminal cancer, I would have lost it, except my best friend knew that, so he came every Saturday and we flew all day long. He kept me in one piece. I can't imagine the pain of losing your wife.
